Conferences, etc.The 2012 CiRCE Conference: "A Contemplation of Creation." Here you can find all of the audio files and other resources for purchase/download.
From the Wheaton Theology Conference: On Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, 2010, I was privileged to attend Wheaton's Annual Theology Conference. This year's event was titled, "Jesus, Paul, and the People of God: A Dialogue with N.T. Wright" N.T. Wright is a New Testament scholar and Anglican Bishop from Durham, England. At the conference, Wright delivered a chapel address to the undergraduate student body at Wheaton which is so very applicable to our students here too (and we ourselves!). I strongly encourage you to watch his teaching HERE. You will not be disappointed. Also, you may go HERE to find ALL of the speakers from the conference in VIDEO and AUDIO, including Wright's other talks which were wonderful. You may also notice that Jeremy Begbie also spoke (his Theology and the Arts video is also posted below). 1. Jeremy Begbie: Theology through the Arts - Begbie simply and elegantly shows the relationship between our Theology and the musical arts. Of course, the musical arts is one pane of the window. For centuries art has been a powerful medium by which divine truths and realities have been communicated. SEE THE VIDEO BELOW. 2. Here you will find three N.T. Wright lectures on Colossians from the Dec. 2008 Intervarsity Following Christ conference. They are entitled in order as "WISDOM", "GLORY", AND "VIRTUE." The theme of that conference was on "HUMAN FLOURISHING" and Wright has some particularly wonderful things to say. If you have not heard much of Wright, I encourage you to give him a listen. I am unable to post the individual files here on the site; however you can listen to or download the lectures HERE. Simply scan down to the "Following Christ Conference" and you will find the first lecture on January 5, 2009. 3. To the Left is a clip from a Grad School Chapel that Dr. Jerry Root gave when I was at Wheaton. I remember this particular part well and recently came upon it again. 4. Here is a recent video from the TED 2010 conference. It is interesting to consider Ken Robinson's take on education. Also, note this one. 5. James K. A. Smith's Book, Desiring the Kingdom: Worship, Worldview, and Christian Formation (see the Reading page of this site), is a fantastic book that really gets at the heart of what Classical and Christian education (ALL education really, whether we realize it or not) is all about. Here is an interview from Chris Perrin's site with Smith himself. |
